Guatemala coffee is grown in the fertile volcanic soils of Antigua. This region is nestled among three large volcanoes: the Volcan de Agua (Volcano of Water) which has an elevation of 12,356 feet, the Acatenango which had its last eruption in 1972 has an elevation of 13,045 feet, and the Volcan de Fuego or the Volcano of Fire, a low level active volcano which has an altitude of 12,346 feet above sea level. The three volcanoes contribute to the nutrients of the soil in Antigua, giving Guatemala coffee that perfect and distinct character.
